| People
who travel to South Australia are amazed by the natural wildlife,
and no more evident is it than in the Fleurieu Peninsula.. If you
love the finer things in life with the ability to take in the un-spoilt
nature of our state then spend a day or two with us.
Our day begins
with a scenic drive through the hills surrounding Adelaide. 30 minutes
south of Adelaide is McLaren Vale, a most diverse and captivating
wine growing region of vines and fine red wines.
|
| Even
if one does not enjoy wine, the history of this region is absolutely
fascinating, and makes a delightful stop for morning tea, on our way
to the Fleurieu Peninsula. |
|
| After
our refreshments we make our way towards Goolwa . Goolwa was once
a thriving paddle steamer port, where cargo was transported along
the length of the Murray River. Townships in the area all survived
on this massive trade that has long since been replaced by road transport
and many are now ghost towns. Towns like Milang, Finesse and Clayton
were all once major hubs of activity. All of them a wealth of history
that your guide will be only top happy to impart on you.
At Goolwa,
we can stroll along the beach, feel the sand between our toes as
we meander towards the mouth of the Murray River. The smell of the
sea air does wonders for ones health and makes the child alive in
us once again!
|
A
short distance takes us through Port Elliot, the surfing beach of
Middleton and then onto Victor Harbor.
Victor
Harbor was once a major whaling center and there is an Interpretive
Centre that you can visit if you desire. |
| A
heritage horse drawn trolley ride to Granite Island is a real treat,
and at certain times of the day seals and fairy penguins are visible.
|
 |
|
During the
months of September and October the Southern Right whales visit
our shores with their newborn calves.
Our next stop
is Deep Creek Conservation Park, it is here that we bring all our
senses to life.
|
| Can
you say Tappanappa? If you can't it doesn't matter as the views from
here are spectacular.
|
| The
sights of kangaroo's so close you can almost touch them, parrots,
Western Pygmy Possums, Wedge Tailed Eagles and even huge Sea Eagles
that prey on the native fauna. |
 |
| Take
in the treacherous southern coast that has taken many a ship and human
life. So relaxing is this un-spoilt area, we travel through national
parks that are instant pictures of beauty. |
| Bring
your camera as this is a wildlife lovers delight! Smell the sea air
as we travel along the coast of the Great Southern Ocean, bring your
binoculars as you can see Kangaroo Island at your fingertips. |
 |
 |
We
conclude our day with a relaxing drive through the townships
of Normanville and Yankalilla. |
